Where to recycle Metal Cans in New Zealand

Most council-operated recycling services in NZ include steel cans and aluminium beverage cans.

There are two main methods:

KERBSIDE

Most major regional and larger provincial cities offer a kerbside collection service that includes beverage cans.
Most services are based on you putting your cans and the other recyclables into a plastic bin or crate and placing that bin out at the kerb for collection on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

Drop-off

In some smaller towns the service provided might include a drop-off point where you are able to take your recyclables and place them in large bins, cages or modified shipping containers.
